Loom® case study

Free Screen & Video Recording Software

First patent for Loom in 2017: $350M valuation in 2020

Client

The goal

Vinay Hiremath, Co-Founder and Head of Engineering, knew his technology would require patents to continually support clients such as Uber, LinkedIn, Airbnb, and Dropbox. APA took Loom’s formative ideas (formerly Opentest), and protected them with the filing of both provisional and non-provisional patent applications, in order to block competitors and imitators from stealing market share or opportunity.

Vinay was particularly pleased with the speed of customer service, which is quite the accolade given Loom’s product. With American Patent Agency supporting an agile patent process, Loom will continually be able to innovate online video communication while protecting the ideas underpinning their solutions.

Result

I knew the technology would require patents to continually support our clients such as Uber, LinkedIn, Airbnb, and Dropbox.

I was particularly pleased with the speed of customer service, which is critical for our company given the fast-paced nature of our product.
